I have really been looking forward to watching the winter Olympics this year :) I am curious about the snow situation! I read that helicopter pilots have dropped tens of thousands of cubic feet of snow, to date, on the mountain since last week in an attempt to make up for a snow base that is less than half its normal thickness and temperatures that are up to 7 degrees higher than normal, El Niño at play. I think it is fascinating that The Games have grown in scale to the point that nearly every nation is represented.

an interesting item in our news the other day...not only are they bringing in snow, they are also (maybe...my translation is a little not good!!) mixing in some man-made snow.
The Japanese skiiers and snowboarders are happy because this snow is more like what they have in northern japan and in the places the athletes practice. The announcer said (again...maybe!) that it was like a special edge that our athletes don't get very often. so....watch for those athletes...especially the female snowboarder...she's really good!!! :-D
